UK Based RCCG Pastor On Fire For Asking Church Members To Give This Amount

A UK-Based Redeemed Christian Church of God, Jesus House London Parish Pastor, identified as Agu Irukwu is currently under attack by some members of his congregation after asking them to give a sacrificial offering.

According to reports, the Pastor started by requesting for members willing to give £2,000 to come forward, after which he requested that those with £1, 000 come forward.

He eventually proceeded to say that anybody giving an offering of less than £250 will not be called forward as he doesn’t want to embarrass them due to the supposedly small amount.

According to Ono Bello, members of his congregation were mortified at his requests as there are personal stories of people struggling financially, with visa applications, to get on the property ladder and gain profitable employment and have not received any support from the church.

The Pastor, who was chosen in 2011 as “Britain’s Most Inspirational Black Person” allegedly pays himself and other senior Pastors in the church a six-figure salary in Pounds.

Boko Haram strike again in Borno, kill 4 persons

Boko Haram sect killed four passengers and injured six other persons travelling on Banki-Maiduguri road, this was confirmed by the Nigerian Army.

The Director, Army Public Relations, Sani Usman, who disclosed this in a statement issued in Maiduguri, however, said troops had killed countless number of the insurgents in a gun duel.

Mr. Usman said that two members of the Civilian Joint Task Force and six soldiers on escort duty sustained injuries during the attack.

He said that one of the vehicles conveying the passengers hit an Improvised Explosive Device planted on the road, adding that the blast killed some of the passengers and injured others.

He said the troops engaged the insurgents in heavy fire fight as result of which one of them detonated the IED strapped to his body and killed himself, while several other insurgents escaped with gunshot wounds.

The army spokesman noted that the attack was coordinated by the insurgents to deter troops’ movement on the road.

According to him, the troops recovered dead bodies of the insurgents and ammunition from the scene of the attack.

“Troops of 152 Battalion, 21 Brigade Nigerian Army on Operation LAFIYA DOLE on Monday, Oct. 30, 2017; encountered suspected Boko Haram terrorists ambush along Banki- Bula Yobe Road in Bama Local Government Area of Borno while on escort duty of some civilians from Banki to Maiduguri.

“Similarly, twelve persons comprising 6 soldiers, 2 Civilian JTF and 6 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) sustained various degrees of injury.

“The terrorists who laid an IED on the road to deter troop’s movement had among them a suicide bomber who could not bear the troops heavy volume of fire which made the terrorist to detonate the explosive killing only himself.

“The Troops displayed high level of gallantry by swiftly engaging the terrorists which neutralised the large number of the terrorists while some of them escaped with gunshot wounds.

“During the exploitation process, they also discovered bodies of some of the Boko Haram terrorists and recovered 2 Fabrique Nationale Rifle magazines, 50 Belted 7.62mm special and a Detonating Cord 33 used by the terrorists in detonating Improvised Explosive Device”.

Nemanja Matic fires warning at Chelsea ahead of Man United showdown

Manchester United returned to winning ways in the top flight on Saturday lunchtime when they beat Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford thanks to Anthony Martial’s goal.

Chelsea also managed to keep pace with Manchester City after the Blues sealed a 1-0 victory over Bournemouth on Saturday night.

Manchester City are still leading the way at the top of the Premier League table and are five points ahead of Manchester United and nine points ahead of Chelsea.

Matic knows a thing or two about winning Premier League titles after he helped Chelsea to win the top-flight crown in both 2014-15 and 2016-17.

And the Serbian midfielder says that it’s too early to rule any of the top teams out of the title race this season.

Matic is quoted as saying by Metro : “It’s hard to say after 10 games that someone is going to be champion. In two games everything can change.

“You have Manchester City, us, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham so with five or six teams it is going to be a big fight until the end and we will see in May.”

Chelsea return to Champions League action on Tuesday night when they take on Roma at Stamford Bridge.

Manchester United also play in the Champions League in midweek when they host Benfica in front of their home fans at Old Trafford, before next Sunday’s showdown with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Mesut Ozil opens up about Arsenal’s title hopes this season

The Gunners have not won the Premier League since their famous unbeaten triumph in the 2003-04 campaign and have made something of a slow start to the new season.

Arsenal are currently fifth in the Premier League table and nine points behind leaders Manchester City after having lost three of their opening nine games.

However, Ozil was in fine form for Arsenal as he helped Arsene Wenger’s men return to winning ways in the top flight with a thrilling 5-2 victory at Everton last weekend.

And the 29-year-old playmaker feels that Arsenal have the building blocks in place to challenge for major honours this season.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Ozil said: “We have lots of quality in this team as we have shown. It’s important to be consistent if we want to be successful.

“We know we have the quality, we just have to give our all and believe in ourselves. If we can do that I’m convinced we can win trophies.”

Arsenal finished fifth in the Premier League last season as they missed out on Champions League qualification for the first time under Wenger and had to settle for Europa League football this term.

However, the Gunners did win the FA Cup for the third time in four years as they lifted the trophy at Wembley after beating Chelsea in the final back in May.

Intending couple collect N500, 000 to sell children in Imo

Many were speechless as some suspects revealed how they stole two children of one Abigail Ukah in Uzoagba, Ikeduru local government area of Imo State and sold them for N1.1 million.

The deal was allegedly masterminded by the cousin to the children’s mother, Ms. Oluchi Chibike, with the collaboration of her would be husband, Obinna Eze.

At the parade of suspected criminals yesterday in Owerri, the Imo state capital by the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Chris Ezike, the would be husband, Obinna Eze, confessed that he only collected the sum of N500,000 for the sales of the children.

The children now recovered by the police are five year old, Francis Nwachukwu and his two year old sister Chimazaekpere Nwachukwu.

According to the Police Commissioner, Ezike, “On the 29th day of August 2017, Oluchi Chibike, the cousin to Abigail Ukah, came to Uzoagba in Ikeduru local government, Imo state, in company of one Obinna Eze, whom Oluchi Chibike, told the victim, Abigail Ukah, was her intended husband.”

According to Ezike, their mission was to take the children of Abigail, Francis and Chimazaekpere to Obinna’s house for a visit and unknown to Abigail it was a plan to take her children away.”

Ezike added that, Obinna and Oluchi, hired and allegedly paid the sum of N160, 000 to Vitalis Lumanze and Chinatu alias Salasco to attack and collect the children from Abigail.

He continued: “In the morning of 30th of August 2017, Oluchi and Obinna took the two children to Enugu and sold them to 45 year old Mrs Nkiru Nwanedu of Egwedi in Njaba LGA, Imo state, at the cost of N1,100,000, , but they were paid N700, 000, with a promise to be paid the balance at a later date.”

The commissioner said that in the course of the investigation, the children were resold by Nwanedu, to one Mrs. Jacinta Amadi of Egede in Udi ,LGA, in Enugu state.

“Amadi, took the custody of the children from 30th August 2017 till 27 October 2017 when they were arrested from their various hideouts in Enugu State and the two children recovered.”

Speaking to Vanguard , Mrs. Oluchi Chibike, cousin to Mrs Abigail Ukah, said: “Abigail Ukah is my relation. I was not the person who stole the children , but I showed Obinna the children. I don’t leave together with my sister. So, the only way I got involved was that I initiated the process that led to the sale of the children.”

Mrs Nkiru Nwanedu , who allegedly bought the children from Obinna and Oluchi, disclosed that she met Oluchi at a fellowship. “Oluchi told me the children were from an orphanage home and said she was going to sell the children for N1.1 million before we started haggling and finally agreed for N800,000.”

On what she knows about the children, Mrs Jacinta Amadi, whom the Police recovered the children from said: “I do not know anything about the stealing of the children. I only adopted these children. I did not know that the legal process was not followed. This happened in Enugu state, in a church programme.”

Also speaking, the husband to be to Oluchi Chibike, Mr. Obinna Eze said:
“The truth is that I exposed the whole thing and now they are heaping the blame on me. I was given N500, 000. Oluchi is the initiator of this business.

“She can tell the story better. Oluchi went to her maternal home and deceived the mother of the children and took them away. She saw me at a burial ceremony and started pointing at me that was how we met.

“I left the venue and one Sunday they invited me to a child dedication ceremony at World Bank in Owerri.

At that occasion, Oluchi presented me as her husband to be without me knowing their plans. That was how she planned and took away the children.”

Forget second term ambition, Udeogaranya urges Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has been urged to jettison any form of pressure, driving him into thoughts of a re-run, such as being pioneered by National Committee of Buhari Support Group.

A chieftain of All Progressives Congress, APC, and a presidential aspirant of the party, Chief Charles Udo Udeogaranya, made the assertion while speaking with newsmen in Lagos, adding that there is every indication that Nigerians cannot stand, let alone be better off in another four years of Buhari’s administration.

He said: “Nigeria at the moment needs a new, young and dynamic leader with creative skills to create a better Nigeria for all Nigerians.

“Nigeria needs a president who understands and holds means and ways of solving basic problems . Nigeria needs a president who knows the strategies of wealth creation instead of borrowings.

“Nigeria needs a truly civil president who will run Nigeria with a full sense of civility and sees the whole of the country as his constituency.”

Udeogaranya said Nigerians need a young person to run the affairs of the nation and “these are some of the reasons why Nigerians need me as their president come May 29, 2019 and not Muhammadu Buhari.”

$5.5bn loan: LP warns Buhari, says economy moving towards stagnation

The Labour Party, LP, has kicked against the borrowing plans of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, warning that the economy was already moving towards stagnation, especially with fresh plans by the government to borrow about $5.5 billion to finance the 2017 budget deficit.

The party said: “The situation of the economy is moving towards stagnation with the enormous borrowing by the Federal Government, non-implementation of the 2017 budget, increase in hunger and poverty even after the claim of the Federal Government that we are no longer in recession.

“We ask the Federal Government to boost the agricultural sector and make loans available to genuine farmers at reduced interest rates as well as empowering the youths and women.”

National Publicity Secretary of the party, Ebere Ifendu, in a statement, yesterday, in Abuja equally chided state governments for their refusal to pay workers’ salaries, even after receiving financial aid from the Federal Government.

She said: “Labour Party frowns at the non-payment of salary of civil servants in most states of the federation. We are calling on all affected states government to immediately pay all arrears to their workers. It is embarrassing to note that after receiving bailout funds from the federal government, the states refused to pay salaries”.

The party also urged the federal government to intensify to make its anti-corruption war more transparent and holistic, noting that the recent reinstatement of Mr. Abdulrasheed Maina is a national disgrace and a ridicule of the anti-corruption campaign of the federal government.

While she restated that there was no leadership tussle in the party, Ifendu said “the leadership of the party under our digital National Chairman Dr.Mike Omotosho will take a census of her membership, mobilize and register new members”.

The party will also revalidate and establish offices in all the 36 states of the federation and the FCT and in all the 774 local government areas in 90 days.

“The party will conduct state congresses in the states where their tenures of three years have elapsed in accordance with the 2009 constitution of our party. We will reposition the party to enable us occupy the political landscape of the country come 2019”, she added.

Kidnappers confess: How we collected N61m ransom from Health Minister’s family

Four suspected kidnappers, arrested by Edo State Police Command over the abduction of the Managing Director of Ogba Zoo and Nature Park, Mr. Andy Ehanire, have confessed to collecting N61 million as ransom from his family.

Mr Ehanire, a brother to the Minister of State for Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire, spent three weeks with the kidnappers before he regained freedom.

During the abduction, the kidnappers killed three policemen, who had drank beer bought for them by the abductors.

It was gathered that the kidnappers collected the first tranche of N25 million and another $100,000 before Dr. Ehanire was released.

The suspects were said to have been arrested in Sapele, Delta State, with N800,000 reportedly recovered from the wife of one of the suspects.

Narrating how Mr. Ehanire was abducted, the suspects said they had earlier attempted to abduct the victim twice, but failed due to the presence of policemen attached to the zoo.

In a confessional video made available online, one of the suspected kidnappers, whose recording at the Police station has gone viral, said they earlier attempted to carry out the abduction twice, but were prevented by the presence of policemen.

The suspect said: “I was at home when Gabillo called me to say that there is a job at hand. I asked him where, he said in Benin. But I told him I don´t know Benin well.

“I asked him where in Benin, and he said around Airport Road. So we converged by the riverside and left for Benin. When our men got there on the first day, they saw policemen and left. Same thing happened on the second day.

“On the third day, we saw policemen there again, but Gabillo called one of his friends while I was waiting by the waterside, because I drove the speedboat.

“They were monitoring the place for Police presence. The third time they went there, they called me to say that immediately they got there Police arrived.

“They pretended as if they were visitors at the zoo and bought beer for the policemen. As the policemen were drinking, one of our men entered the car, brought out an AK-47 rifle and shot the three policemen, then took the man away.

“In fact, when they got to the waterside, we wanted to burn the vehicle but there was no lighter. We then bundled the man into the boat and sped off.”

The suspects further confessed that they collected the first instalment of N25 million from the family and they later brought $100,000 dollars before they released Ehanire.

The Edo State Police spokesman, DSP Moses Nkombe, who confirmed the arrest, said the suspects are still being investigated, to arrest other fleeing gang members.

Ibrahimovic: What I’m seeing in Man United training is different this season

Zlatan Ibrahimovic believes that Manchester United are on course to challenge for major honours this season because of the dedication he is seeing from the Red Devils in training at Carrington.

Jose Mourinho’s team are aiming to challenge for the title this term after having ended up sixth in the table last season in the Portuguese coach’s first campaign at the club.

The Red Devils have been in fine form this term and they returned to winning ways in the Premier League with a 1-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford on Saturday.
That result kept Mourinho’s men five points behind leaders Manchester City in the race for the title this season.

And Ibrahimovic believes that Manchester United’s players are showing that they have what it takes to challenge for the title this term.
Speaking to MUTV before the win over Tottenham, Ibrahimovic said: “The team is good and motivated, I see them training very hard, I see they are hungry.

“I see their mentality is different from last year because now they know what they need to do to get the wins, and now they know what it is to win because we won the three trophies last year.

“They know what kind of work that they need to do to get to the objectives we are aiming for. It’s about hard work and a lot of sacrifice.”

Manchester United will now switch their focus back to Champions League affairs and their home clash with Benfica on Tuesday night.

The Red Devils were 1-0 winners over the Portuguese side when they last met earlier in the month.

Ibrahimovic is expected to make his return from a knee injury for Manchester United around the new year.

Chukwuma Soludo predicts the party to win Anambra Election

Former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, on Saturday, is optimistic that the All Progressive Grand Alliance ( APGA ) would rule Anambra State for 50 years.

Soludo also predicted economic greatness for the state, adding that the development road map of the incumbent governor, Willie Obiano, must be sustained.

The economist stated this on Saturday at Umunze, Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State, during the inauguration of Obiano’s re-election campaign committee in the area.

He said, “APGA will rule Anambra State for 50 years during which time Anambra would have become one of the best economies in Africa. I can see the indices of modern economic development being put in place by the Obiano government. His agricultural transformation is unique.

“I urge our people to vote for Obiano again so that he can sustain what I’m seeing in this state. After Obiano, I see a continuation of APGA government in this state for up to 50 years because, for the past 11 years, APGA has done marvelously well in this state. I don’t see a change of loyalty soon.”

He urged the people of the state not to be deceived by those contesting the November 18 poll in the state to pursue vendetta.

In his remarks, a former National Chairman of APGA, Victor Umeh, also urged the people of the area to sustain the APGA leadership in the state.

While expressing optimism that his party would win the November 18 poll in the state, Obiano urged the Independent National Electoral Commission to ensure that the wish of the people was protected in the election.

Nigerian Policeman Abducts, r*pes 14-yr-old Girl For 6 Days Till He Ruptured Her v**ina In Anambra State

It was gathered that the girl who lost the money given to her by her father to buy round cotton, was approached by Barau as she tried identifying the car she boarded. Tests carried out at Federal Medical Center, Asaba confirms there was indeed a penetration.

Facebook user, Ismaila Gambo Arabo who shared the story wrote;

Maryam Yusuf was just 14years old, an indigene of Kano state living with her parents in Asaba, Delta state. She does attend Islamic school in cable area known as Hausa quarters in Asaba, Delta state.

Maryam was sent by her father to Onitsha form Asaba on 14th of October 2017 to buy round cotton but unlucky for her she lost the money while on transit.

During her efforts to identify the vehicle she boarded, while standing by the road side, she was approached by one corporal Barau Garba (mopol) with service number 275601 from MOPOL 7 Sokoto state who was on a special duty in Anambra, his team were attached with OKPOKO police divisional headquarters, Onitsha.

The rouge police corporal approached the teenage girl asking her of what happened, as the small girl explained to him how she lost her money on transit and her need to go back home, the police man Barau Garba deceived her by asking her to join him on his motorcycle so that he can take her back home.

Instead of taking the teenage girl back home to her parents safely, this Nigerian police corporal decided to abduct her and took her to a temporary police base and locked her up in his room and maliciously defiled her for six (6) good days. This police man defiled this teenage girl until her v**ina raptured.

For these six agonizing days, innocent Maryam was begging him to take her home but he refused. His waterloo reached its peak when on the 5th day, in the middle of the night the innocent Maryam took his mobile phone and called her father to come to her rescue.

Maryam was taken to hospital on 25th October 2017 (yesterday) by a good samaritan because the police in accord with the DPO of OKPOKO division are not forthcoming with her case.

They want to cover up the case, especially as they told the father that the issue have to be forgiven since ‘they’ both the rouge police corporal Barau Garba and them are all of northern origin.

Attached here is the hospital patient card where innocent Maryam was taken and various tests were conducted, and it was ascertained she was defiled beyond human imagination and left with a raptured v**ina.

The IGP have to use a holistic approach to root out these bad eggs amongst the Nigerian police, just like how a sixty years old woman
Who died from the police corruption, this Maryam Yusuf was defiled and humiliated by the same Nigerian police man.

Justice must be done here.

Top model and Miss Earth Nigeria 2013, Marie Miller was attacked in traffic yesterday night by an armed robber who smashed her car window to gain access, stabbed her arm and then demanded for her handbang. The said robbers failed to take anything after a struggle ensued. Narrating what happened, she took to her Instagram page and wrote;

This is what happened to me on ikorodu express way last night. I was stuck in traffic and from no where a guy comes up to my side of the car, looking menacingly at me,I saw him but it didn’t register immediately what was about to happen,he just suddenly smashed my window and stabbed me with a knife and was saying “your handbag, your handbag!” I don’t know what came over me,I was just thinking of my niece and younger brothers in the car with me,and I fought the guy off and went right into the next lane, despite the crazy traffic.

I brushed the side of my car on the brt demarcation, brushed another car trying to swerve back onto the lane, all this time pressing my horn to alert people to get out of the way. And even though cars weren’t really moving,I just found a way, thank God,to get out of there, all the while looking back and asking if they were following us! Not until I had gone some ways, then the shock hit my,I was shaking! And crying and I had to keep moving because I was the only one that could drive in the car.

The shards of glass from my broken window, lying in my laps, giving me scratches and cuts on my skin and I kept moving till I got to Anthony village and parked.

Nobody stopped to know what wrong, they looked at my car saw the scrapes and kept on moving!one guy even stopped, came out, came to my window, asking what happened,my brother was telling them I got stabbed.

They just looked at me,went back to the car and drove off!I was in shock. I just thank God everyone is safe, nothing was stolen, car was damaged but we are alive.

I can’t help but think “what if it was some vital part of my body that I got stabbed at,I might I have bled to death!.I thank God,I can’t express it enough! Lagos state government needs to place police officials at strategic points on the highway to deter these hoodlums from operating, especially when there’s traffic.

And I want to thank my darling @bryanokwara for coming to my rescue, taking a bike, trying to calm me down over the phone when i was trying to get to a hospital, God bless you honey! #thankingGodforourlives

Bisola had tongues wagging when she publicly declared via her Twitter handle that she was in a romantic relationship with Akoh, the 2015 MTN Project Fame winner. Subsequently, she said she didn’t mean it but she told Saturday Beats it wasn’t mere publicity stunt.

In the post she had written, “It is official guys, Jeff Akoh and I are in love and in a strong, loving relationship. Your girl B is taken #ageaintnothingbutanumber.”

Shortly after the post, many people believed it was publicity stunt as the post coincided with the young man’s launch of his debut album, ‘Lokoja.’
But in a chat with Saturday Beats, the singer and actress said it was not a publicity stunt.

“When I posted on my social media account that I was in love with Jeff Akoh of Project Fame, it was not that we were an item. He just finished performing without rehearsing with the band that was there and his vocals literally blew me away.

I was really impressed because he had not rehearsed with the live band that was playing. I was so impressed that I yelled, ‘Jeff I love you. You are such an amazing singer.’ Then I tweeted it.

People that really know me are aware of the fact that I joke a lot. I put a hash tag with the post #ageaintnothingbutanumber and I knew the post would stir up a controversy.

It was not planned, neither was it a publicity stunt. It was a spur of the moment thing. I had listened to him and I fell in love with his vocals. People just took it out of context,” she said.

One major reason the relationship might not work is because the reality television show star told Saturday Beats that she prefers dating older men.

Bisola said, “For me, I don’t have anything against dating someone younger but I would rather date someone who is older than me. It is my choice and I don’t have a particular reason. I am not in a relationship at the moment because I am focused on being successful.

Love would eventually come but there are some bills that need to be paid staring me in the eyes. I cannot say my love interest would come and pay for it.”

As an advocate of the empowerment of the girl child, the singer said that she feels the government is not doing enough.

“I am an advocate with oneorg.com for girl child education. I would not say the government has done enough for the girl child in Nigeria and that is why we are advocating on their behalf.

We know it takes a long process in making policies but the more we keep lending our voices, the more the lawmakers are aware that it is high time issues like this were addressed. It goes beyond the government because they could put in place some policies but it would not be implemented.

That is another ball game entirely. We just hope that with the noise we are making and the places we have been to on behalf of the girl child, everything would be okay. It is a gradual process,” she said.

Why models become actors –Mr. Nigeria

So many Nollywood actors were once big time models and Emmanuel Ikubese, the current Mr. Nigeria and Mr. World Africa explained why he and the likes of Alex Ekubo, Bryan Okwara, Gbenro Ajibade and IK Ogbonna, didn’t find it difficult going into the make-belief industry.

Ikubese who is also a United Nations Millennium Development Goals ambassador said, “Models can be likened to footballers and at some point, they become too old to compete with younger boys.

I started modelling when I was about 17 years old because I have the stature and I could do catwalks very well. I am not saying that there are no older models but if you look at it closely, especially in the international scene, you would not see a 32- year- old man modelling.

“If you have a talent, you can use modelling as a platform to launch your talent in either acting, music or any other sector. If you can put it into use, you can do a lot more because as a model, things you can do are limited. Acting in a film is different from walking on the runway.

As an actor, I can touch lives and that makes me happy as a person. It is one of the things I love to do. As a model, you are not doing that and it is not fulfilling because you would just look good to sell someone’s product. Before I ventured into acting, I used to sing and I was also a disc jockey.

The way I got into acting was even divine because I went for auditions and before long, I was called to play several roles. If I were to choose which I love to do the most, I would definitely go for acting.”

What Manchester United player Anthony Martial was told by Jose Mourinho

Jose Mourinho instructed Anthony Martial to drop off Romelu Lukaku rather than play close to him during his matchwinning impact against Tottenham.

Manchester United forward Martial replaced
Marcus Rashford in the 70th minute and 11 minutes later ran onto Romelu Lukaku's flick on to finish past Hugo Lloris for the game's only goal. The Frenchman has mainly played on the left flank this term but on a day Mourinho started with two centre forwards Martial was allowed to play a central role.

The Frenchman started up front with Rashford in the midweek win at Swansea and began his United career as a No.9 before Louis van Gaal moved him wide. Mourinho felt Martial was a more suitable option to test Tottenham's defensive trio of Jan Vertonghen, Toby Alderweireld and Eric Dier.

"Same position as Marcus, but he's more comfortable than Marcus dropping in between the lines," Mourinho said. "Having the ball and have the ball and not just try to attack space. And I was telling him to do that.

"But, at the same time, to play from Lukaku against three very good central defenders but against three central defenders who had a hard match against Lukaku and Rashford.

"So he comes, and okay, probably a lucky shot but the movement is good, the desire is good and the goal is the goal that gets us two more points than the 0-0."

Barcelona coach coy on Catalonia crisis

Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde repeatedly batted away questions on the Catalonia crisis on Friday insisting it was not his role to enter the political fray.

With Catalonia’s regional parliament approving a declaration of independence dominating news Friday Valverde was preparing Barcelona for an away game at Athletic Bilbao in Spain’s La Liga.

“Everyone has their responsibility,” he said refusing to speak about the political crisis.

“I am the coach of Barcelona and I will try to have my team win,” he said
“I’m just focussed on winning this match,” said Valverde.

Bombarded with consistent questions on the crisis Valverde remained stoic.
“Its not for me to draw conclusions, but like everyone I have my own opinion on the matter,” he said.

“But I would like to remain solely focussed on the sporting side of things.”

“Nothing has happened yet and so far we are talking about assumptions (about the crisis). It’s okay drawing conclusions but let’s just talk about reality,” he said.

“And the reality is that tomorrow we have a game and we will try to win it.”

“Athletico are very strong at home and always have been. Their fans get behind them and the team never gives up,” he said of Saturday’s rivals who sit 11th in La liga 14 points behind Barca.

“And they always seem very motivated when we go there, its a real classic every time we go.

“It’s a game everybody wants to play in, it’s a stressful game against a dangerous team,” he added.

Breaking: Woman Hides Phone Inside Soup To Deliver To Her Boyfriend In Prison

A woman has been nabbed after it was found out that she had hidden a phone inside a container of soup and then sending it to her boyfriend in jail.

Fatima Balogun, a 33-year-old woman, was, Wednesday, arrested by prison officials as she tried smuggling a mobile phone, hidden in a cooler of soup, to her robbery suspect boyfriend being held at Ibara Prisons, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

According to a Vanguard report, the woman was reportedly arrested at the prison’s gate lodge by the Special Intelligence Unit of Nigerian Prisons, Abeokuta Maximum Prisons.

Addressing newsmen yesterday, the Comptroller of Prisons, Ogun State command, CP Benson Abolade, said the action was a threat to national security, which he said is being taken seriously by the Comptroller General of Prisons.

Abolade said the suspect was arrested for trafficking in Prison, which he said was against the Prison operations.

He said some articles like handsets, weapons, drugs, sharp objects among others are prohibited from the Prisons, noting that “it is an offence to bring these articles to the yard without the permission of the Prison Officials.”

He added that the Command has contacted the Police for her prosecution to serve as deterrent to others.

He said: “Comptroller General frowns at such action because he knows that it impinges on the national security and that is why he gave a tall order that Special Intelligence Unit should be formed in all the Prisons formations nationwide.”

Speaking with newsmen during her parade, the suspect confirmed that she hid the phone in the soup to take to her boyfriend, identified as Ganiyu Ajibode. Balogun disclosed that she has two children for the suspect, while they were married, before he eloped with another woman four years ago.

The suspect, who said she lives in Fagba, Iju-Saga in Lagos, said she has never visited the Prisons since her ex-husband was remanded for robbery six months ago, denying that the man asked her to bring the phone to him in the prison.

Her words: “I hid it in the stew because I know they will not allow me to take it to him in the Prisons. I did not know it is bad. I wrapped it in cellophane bag.

“We have been together for two years. I live with my father. I regret my action and hope that the government forgives me.”

Catalonia declares independence from Spain

Catalonia’s parliament has declared independence from Spain in defiance of the Madrid government, which at the same time was preparing to impose direct rule over the region.

Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy immediately called for calm and said the rule of law would be restored.

The motion passed in the regional parliament in Barcelona which was boycotted by opposition parties said Catalonia constituted an independent, sovereign and social democratic state. It called on other countries and institutions to recognize it.

The Catalan government said that of the 43% of potential voters who took part in the referendum, 90% were in favour of independence.

But Spain’s Constitutional Court had ruled the vote illegal. In all, the motion declaring independence was approved with 70 in favour, 10 against and two abstentions in the 135-seat chamber.

Immediately afterwards, Mr Rajoy called for all Spaniards to remain calm, promising to “restore legality” to Catalonia.

Spain’s Senate is still to vote on whether for the first time to enact Article 155 of the Spanish constitution, which empowers the government to take “all measures necessary to compel” a region in case of a crisis.

It would enable Madrid to fire Catalan leaders, and take control of the region’s finances, police and public media.

“I don’t want anybody to label me a Nollywood actor” – Jim Iyke

Actor/businessman, Jim Iyke whose acting career in the Nigerian movie industry took off in 2001, in an interview with Pulse Nigeria talked about a role he would love to play, and why he doesn’t want to be labeled ‘a Nollywood actor.’

“I have never played a gay role and I have no desire of playing anything like that. I have had a long career, a lot of movies, I have pretty much stretched everything that there is.
“But is there a role out there [that I haven’t played]? I can’t think of any off the top of my head.”

He, however, revealed the real-life character he would love to interpret on screen.

“It’s a man with the depth of Denzel [Washington.] Denzel is not just an actor, that’s how I don’t want to be perceived as well.

“That’s why I’m always going off and on to go educate myself some more, elevate my mind some more, invest in things that are outside the confines, fail in many more things and succeed as well as I go.”

He further stated that he doesn’t want to be tagged ‘a Nollywood actor,” sharing his reasons.

“I don’t want anyone to label me a Nollywood actor. I want to be a business man, I want to be a philanthropist, I want to help people in my lifetime, leave my signature in the stamps of time.

I want people to wake up and say ‘hey, if you didn’t do this, this wouldn’t haven’t happened. And I want to say the same of people.”

Nigerian buys South African man G-Wagon to apologise for impregnating his wife, and he accepts

After he learnt that his girlfriend was pregnant for him, a Nigerian man identified as John reportedly bought his South African girlfriend’s husband a G-Wagon to apologize.

It was gathered that after the man received the car, he forgave John for sleeping with his wife.

Daily Live, a South-African news website reported that after giving the man the car gift, John said;

“I know what I did is wrong but I feel better he has accepted my gift. He accepted that his wife, my girlfriend, is pregnant and will soon give birth to my son. He was angry at first but when I presented the car to him his anger vanished”.

Speaking on the incident, a South African lady close to the family said though the family of the pregnant wife could not hold back her disappointment and anger toward the man, as she claimed that Nigerian men would never take South-African men seriously after hearing this.

She said, “Nigerian men will never take our men seriously. What kind of a man accepts a gift from a man who impregnated his wife? He will impregnate her again and buy the stupid husband another car.

I am so disappointed.” When contacted, the husband who didn’t want to be named said, “it is wrong to say I am stupid. The point of the matter is we cannot reverse what happened.

We sat down as men and sorted the issue. The Bible says we must forgive and forget. I have always dreamed of driving a G-wagon. Christmas came early for me and my family.

“The baby will be born and I’ll take care of him as my own. If the father wants to take him to Nigeria I wouldn’t mind. I will give my wife the support she needs always.

“That is what marriage is all about. I love my wife and will not leave her because of a mere pregnancy.”

‘Don Jazzy is a broke tenant, Sinach and Frank Edwards are way richer than him’ Nigerian Professor Onyeka Nwelue says

Nigerian Professor and film maker, Onyeka Nwelue, who revealed how he was almost defiled by some women and Nigerian movie big weights who wanted s*x from him before granting him a favour, is back with another ‘exposition’, and this time, he is taking a swipe at entertainers and their showbiz.

Onyeka who said he has seen most Nigerian celebrities bank statements, wrote;

“Dear Young Nigerians,
Garb yourself with some self-esteem, self-confidence and self-pride. We are all poor. Us and the celebrities. All the celebrities in Nigeria.

Linda Ikeji is not a celebrity. She is a business woman. So she is not one of those broke celebrities.

Every celebrity in Nigeria is broke.

They are like me. They don’t have the money they tell you they have. Many of them I have seen their bank statements. I don’t care if they start avoiding me now. I know better.

Stop feeling inadequate, young people. You see as I beg for money publicly, that is how these celebrities suffer and beg for money secretly.

When I was writing Hip-Hop is Only for Children, I spent time travelling with many of them and I know the truth. Let them shut up. Now HushPuppi and his bitches have dragged Ugo Mozie into their rubbish.

Don Jazzy is a tenant. He is broke. Forget everything.

D’Banj is hustling every day to feed.
Davido spends the money they pay for every show.

Sinach and Frank Edwards are richer than these guys. This, I know! I am tired of all the social media haranguing and brouhaha and lies and show! And you will say, How e take concern you?

I am angrily writing this because those of you who feel because you are not famous and so you think you are poor, remember it is the little cash that you people send to our accounts that make us dey do iyanga.

Forget all the foreign trips. Do you know how many people who buy me flight tickets?
When you talk about wealth, people who are wealthy don’t throw them around on social media.

Be yourself because I have seen their bank details. And I know we are all struggling.

f**k inferiority. You folks who think fame is fortune need to relax. You are better than us!”

Court orders EFCC to pay Audu.Maikori, £40m

Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday ordered the Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, and three others to pay N40 million as damages to the president of Chocolate City Group, Audu Maikori.

Justice John Tsoho awarded the costs as compensation for what he ruled as Mr. Maikori’s unlawful arrest and detention between February 17 and 18, and between March 10 and 13.

The judge was delivering judgement in the fundamental human rights enforcement suit filed by Mr. Maikori on May 5.

Other respondents in Mr. Maikori’s suit are the Inspector-General of Police, the Commissioner of Police in Kaduna state, and the state’s Attorney-General.

The court also ordered the respondents to “pay jointly and severally, as general damages, the sum of N10 million only for injury to character, self-reputation, business reputation, esteem, proper feeling of pride of the applicant, his staff, management and the applicant’s other international business concerns”.

Aside from that, Justice Tsoho also directed the respondents to pay damages in the sum of N20 million only for injury to health, for medical bills being incurred by the applicant in treating himself and for psychological damage done on the applicant.

He further awarded N1,430 as cost of the suit, as well as, 10% interest per annum on damages until total and final liquidation of same.

He, however, noted that his verdict does not preclude the ongoing trial of Mr. Maikori in Kaduna, adding that the police could justifiably arrest suspects for allegedly breaking the law in the cyberspace.

The judge however noted that following the tweet, Mr. Maikori made himself liable to be arrested even though he realised that he was misinformed by his driver.

He said, “I hold the respectful view that by virtue of his act, the applicant made himself liable to be deprived of his personal liberty”.

Justice Tsoho further stressed that an arrest made by the police upon reasonable suspicion of commission of a crime is lawful. He said the judgment went in favour of the applicant in view of the fact that the police, in carrying out its duty, violated Mr. Maikori’s fundamental rights.

“This judgement is without prejudice to offences that the applicant is standing trial for. The judgement will serve as a lesson to law enforcement agencies, they should discharge their duties in accordance with constitutional requirements, and not discharging their duties with impunity,” he held.

Justice Tsoho also said though citizen have a right under the constitution to express themselves, he said such rights should not be abused through the social media.
