Sephora News: Paul Scholes: Man United striker needs to emulate Thierry Henry

Paul Scholes believes Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford is capable of replicating Thierry Henry’s success on the wing at Arsenal.

The Red Devils forward scored Manchester United’s second goal in a 2-1 win over CSKA Moscow in the Champions League group stage on Tuesday night.

Rashford will be hoping to secure a place in the Manchester United starting XI for the visit of the Premier League leaders at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The 20-year-old has scored eight goals and has made four assists in all competitions this season to make a positive start to the 2017-18 campaign.

However, Rashford is facing competition from Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial for a starting spot in the Manchester derby given the duo’s recent performances at Watford and Arsenal.

Henry started his Arsenal career on the left wing before he became one of the Premier League’s greatest centre-forwards of all-time.

Former Manchester United midfielder Scholes believes Rashford needs to emulate Henry’s success on the wing in the early stages of his legendary Premier League career.

“When he plays centre-forward he seems to come out to the left-hand side,” Scholes told BT Sport .

“You think of Thierry Henry and he wasn’t bad at doing that either. He was one of the best in the Premier League so if he can be half as good as him, we’ll take that.”

Manchester United finished in sixth place in the Premier League table but won the League Cup and the Europa League under Mourinho.

The Red Devils are looking to win their first Premier League title since 2013.
