How Husband And Wife Were Rescued After Plane Crashed Into A Wire (Photos)

A mountain guide rescued a husband and wife left dangling 100ft when their plane crashed into a zip wire. Peter and Mary Gaddin were on their first flight carrying out an anti-rhino poaching patrol for a game reserve in South Africa when they slammed into the steel cable.
The high wing Bat Hawk aircraft was swinging and rocking in the increasingly strong winds and was hanging just by its propeller.
A rescue from above could not be executed, as the wash from the rotors would dislodge the aircraft, so mountain and rescue officer Rob Thomas decided to reach the couple by travelling down the zip wire.
Rob, 51, joked: “I volunteered as the dope on a rope to try and get them out and spoke to Peter on the radio and told him that I was coming down and just to not panic and stay totally still.
“I had no idea why the plane had not fallen to the ground but when I got there I saw that by a remarkable twist of luck the cable had been hooked under a large nut beneath the propeller.
“I was terrified the movements I was making may dislodge the aircraft because the wind had got up and I was being buffeted about so I just had to wait for the wind to die down to carry on.
“I got the door to the cockpit open and the pilot was nearest me with his wife on the far side and they both had their safety harnesses on and were lying on their backs in rocket launch position.
“I think it is fair to say they were terrified as they has spent many many hours facing upwards as their plane was buffeted by the winds wondering if the next gust could be their very last one.
“It was also very hot with the temperature outside being in the high 30 degrees and they were inside a cockpit and were suffering from dehydration and were obviously very distressed.”
Rob said the pilot asked for his wife to be rescued first – but it was not safe, so she was left dangling while he took them down one-by-one.

TRAGIC NEWS!! Flood Kills 2 Teenagers In Delta

Flood ravaged Infant Jesus area of Asaba, Delta State, on Wednesday night killing two teenagers identified as Martins and Chioma.
It was gathered that the two childhood friends lived in the same neighborhood, where their parents also lived for over ten years before their birth.
The flood, which reportedly swept away properties worth millions of naira, was said to swept Martins and Chioma into gutter where they drowned, and gave up the ghost even before they were taken to the hospital.
Investigation revealed that Infant Jesus area, among others, was worst hit during the latest flood menace in Asaba and its environs leaving sacked residents to suffer untold hardship.
Although the state government had relocated many of the flood victims to various IDPs camps within Asaba and beyond, the situation at Infant Jesus area has been very pathetic as most of the residents, who spoke to DAILY POST on condition of anonymity, described the camps as “disasters” adding that they cannot stay in where there are no security men to protect them.
But the state Commissioner for Special Duties, who also is the Chairman of IDPs camps, Barr Earnest Ogwezzy dispelled as untrue the claim by the displaced persons that there was no security for them.
Ogwezzy, who spoke to journalists on Thursday in Asaba, said: “Delta State government has provided for the flood victims including adequate security network. If there are casualties, it means it is as a result of disobedience. It’s unfortunate that some residents have refused to vacate flood prone areas, and whatsoever happened to them, they are on their own.”
Given an account of the flooding, a resident, Philip Osigwe said, “our rooms have been taken over by flood, the water is just coming out from the ground, and our properties destroyed”.
It was further gathered that the rampaging water was about 100 meters away from the victims’ apartments when they were going to the school in the morning, but in less than seven hours later, when they returned from school, their apartments had been totally submerged.
It was in an attempt to join others in moving out that Martins and Chioma were reportedly swept into the drainage, and subsequently gave up the ghost.
As at the time of this report, sorrows and tears have rented the entire Infant Jesus area, especially the houses of the victims as both parents refused to speak to journalists.
The Delta State government had in the past few weeks been warning residents of flood-prone areas to vacate and move into the IDPs camps, but its warnings seemingly fell on deaf ears, as many of the affected residents alleged that the IDPs camps are too messy for them to stay in

One of Nigeria’s most respected actresses, Funke Akindele has asked her fans to desist from competing with other people on social media.

Man Sentenced To Life Imprisonment, See What He Did (Photo)

A man has been jailed for a minimum of 20 years after being found guilty of stabbing to death another man at a supported living hostel where they both resided. Steven Thwaites, 62, was found guilty following a trial at Blackfriars Crown Court London on Wednesday, 26 September.
He was subsequently sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 20 years. The victim, 60-year-old Vincent Douglas (05.10.57) was stabbed to death in December 2017. Police were called on 1 December following reports of a male suffering from stab injuries.
Officers attended and discovered Vincent in the garden of the address. Officers immediately began to administer first aid prior to the arrival of colleagues from the London Ambulance Service.
Despite subsequent efforts from paramedics, Vincent was pronounced dead at the scene and a crime scene was established.
A post-mortem examination held on 2 December at Greenwich Mortuary gave cause of death as a stab wound to the abdomen. Vincent had also received stab injuries to the liver, face, and hands.
As officers spoke to residents at the scene, Thwaites claimed Vincent had inflicted the wounds himself but gave differing accounts of where he had seen him, first claiming he had been on the ground floor but later stating Vincent had been on the top floor.
Thwaites then claimed he had taken the knife Vincent allegedly used to inflict his injuries and washed it before placing it in a drawer in his kitchen.
CCTV enquiries subsequently showed Vincent going downstairs from his room with a head injury; he was then captured with a stab wound to his abdomen visible before he went outside the building, pursued by Thwaites who was armed with a knife.
Thwaites required hospital treatment for laceration injuries to his hands that he claimed were as a result of taking the knife from Vincent.
He was arrested on suspicion of murder upon discharge from hospital. During interviews he again gave differing accounts to police of what had happened. He was subsequently charged with murder.

“Probe Your Wife For N2.5 Billion ADC Scandal” – PDP Tells Buhari

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to probe his wife, Aisha, over the N2.5 billion scandal linked to her ADC.
Sani Baba-Inna, Aisha’s aide, was accused of using the first lady’s name to collect money from unsuspecting associates and government officials.
The PDP, through its spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan yesterday said the scandal has vindicated the stand of the opposition party that Buhari “presides over a government of corruption”.
Ologbondiyan said the ADC should be tried in an open court and be allowed to defend himself.
The statement read:-
“PDP challenges President Muhammadu Buhari to show his zero tolerance for corruption by allowing for an open inquest into the N2.5 billion scandal, in which the first lady, Aisha Buhari, has already been entangled; instead of the spirited effort by the presidency to suppress a matter that is already in public domain”.
“It is instructive to note that the first lady has already admitted that her detained security aide defrauded ‘unsuspecting associates and officials’, a position which inadvertently exposes the attempt by the Police to conceal the matter.
“The PDP and indeed Nigerians have always pointed to the very expensive lifestyle and personal effects, including posh jewelries, daily paraded by close relatives of Mr. President, thus belying gimmicks and stunts of the first family being saintly and pro-poor.
“Also, there have been allegations of acquisitions of sprawling and choice property in Nigeria and other countries by persons close to the president.
“Since the first lady, in her statement, confessed that her security aide defrauded ‘unsuspecting associates and officials’, the PDP demands that the aide be promptly docked in an open court and given the opportunity to defend himself and expose his accomplices in the alleged fraud.
“It is common knowledge that aides of former presidents and those of former first ladies are currently facing trial in open court over similar allegations and this should not be an exception. The PDP, however, hopes that the detained aide will not be ‘escorted’ out of the country to prevent him from opening up, as was the case of disgraced former minister of finance, Kemi Adeosun.
“Moreover, the PDP invites Nigerians to note that the presidency has suddenly gone dumb on a N2.5 billion fraud under its roof. Does this not amount to admittance of complicity by the Buhari presidency, which is becoming notorious as a den of certificate forgers and persons of questionable character.
“The PDP therefore holds that since issues have been joined and high profile personalities in the presidency… it hopes this matter will not be swept under the carpet.”
