Argentina President Looses Election To Opposition In First Round

The Argentine general elections held on Sunday, October 27th, saw the incumbent President, Mauricio Macri, suffer defeat to Alberto Fernandez, as voters were not in support of the current administration for failing to deliver on its promise to improve the Country's standard of living and create more jobs for its citizens.

The President-elect, Alberto Fernández, owes most of his victory to the former president and current vice president-elect Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, who perfectly planned a comeback into power by choosing the vice president position.

Although they have been speculations that the flamboyant Kirchner would be the one pulling the strings of decisions, they paid have rubbished that notion, stating that President Fernandez would be in charge.

Macri was the Mayor of the country's capital, Buenos Aires, and a wealthy business man, he was beaten in a decisive first round with 47% going to Fernandez and 41% to Macri.

“Today, Alberto is the president of all Argentines,” Kirchner, who governed Argentina from 2007 to 2015, told those gathered to cheer the victory for the Frente para Todos, or Everybody’s Front, coalition. “He will have a very hard task ahead of us that will require the cooperation of all Argentines.”
The only thing that concerns us is that Argentines stop suffering once and for all,” the president-elect told the crowd. “We’re back and we’re going to be better!
