Pastor arrested for hiring assassins to kill female Pastor

A pastor of Life House Ministry in Ojo, Lagos, identified as Pastor Benjamin Akinsanya and two other men has been arrested for sponsoring a team of six assassins who attempted to kill a female pastor, Janet Ogunsola over an alleged battle for spiritual popularity.

Darlington Orji (25 years), and Liberty Elvis (29 years) were the two other suspects arrested with pastor Benjamin. Police reports stated that Pastor Benjamin allegedly paid 500 thousand naira to the suspects to end the life of the female pastor who is in charge of Glorious Chapel Ministry, which is a rival church located at No. 1 Adeleye Street, Ojo - Lagos, to stop her soaring spiritual popularity over him.

Trouble began in October 2019, when the suspects armed with guns broke into the home of Pastor Janet and tried to kidnap her. Lucky enough, she was not at home when the incident occurred and this provoked the kidnappers that they shot severally into her building and left.

Pastor Janet sent an SOS petition to the Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu. According to the Police, after several investigations, Pastor Benjamin was arrested and he led the police officers to where the two other suspects were arrested while the others escaped. The suspects were interrogated and they confessed to the crime and stated that Pastor Benjamin paid them a sum of N500 thousand to kill her.

The three suspects where then brought before a judge at the Igbosere chief magistrate's court with a five-count charge of attempted murder and belonging to an unlawful society called Aiye Confraternity.

The accused persons, however, pleaded not guilty and Magistrate, A.A Famobiwo granted them N100, 000 bail each. He adjourned the case till 12 December 2019 and ordered that the defendants be kept at the Ikoyi Correctional Facility till they perfect their bail conditions.
