Fela Status Demolished By Lagos State Government

Nearly two weeks after the statue of Nigerian Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulakpo Kuti, was commissioned by the Governor of Lagos State, the monument has been demolished by the state's government.


Gboyega Akosile, the spokesperson of the Lagos State Governor confirmed that the statue was officially demolished by the government because it is positioned at a roundabout that has been identified by the State Government to be causing Traffic Jam in the State.

This roundabout is one of the four identified in the State, others are in Maryland, Lekki-Epe expressway, and Ikotun. Gboyega Akosile said the statue will be moved to a new location where it won't interfere with the smooth flow of traffic in the state.
