Pentagon admits 11 US soldiers were hurt in Iran missile strike

Recall that President Donald Trump and the US Military had earlier denied claims that it suffered casualties when the Iranian military attacked it the US coalition military base in Iraq over the assassination of General Qassem Soleimani. A few hours ago, the US Central Command has confirmed that 11 of its troops are currently receiving treatments from concussion suffered during the attack.

Over 1,500 US soldiers safely hid in missile bunkers after they received good intel of the impending attack by Iran's military.

Donald J. Trump who reacted to the attack by giving a speech on January 8 said; 

“The American people should be extremely grateful and happy no Americans were harmed in last night’s attack by the Iranian regime. We suffered no casualties, all of our soldiers are safe, and only minimal damage was sustained at our military bases.”
On Thursday, 16th January, Captain Bill Urban, the spokesman of the US Central Command said that the blast gave concussion to some American soldiers and they are still being assessed.

He said;  
“While no US service members were killed in the Jan 8 Iranian attack on Al Asad air base, several were treated for concussion symptoms from the blast and are still being assessed."
His statement also revealed that some of the soldiers were flown to US facilities in Kuwait and Germany for “follow-on screening". It added; 
“Out of an abundance of caution, service members were transported from Al Asad Air Base, Iraq to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany for follow-on screening. When deemed fit for duty, the service members are expected to return to Iraq following screening."

Capt. Bill Urban said 8 of the soldiers were taken to Germany while the remaining 3 were sent to Camp Arifjan in Kuwait.

Captain Urban said; 

“As a standard procedure, all personnel in the vicinity of a blast are screened for traumatic brain injury, and if deemed appropriate are transported to a higher level of care."
