Obaseki and Oshiomole have been tussling for several months over who will regulate the activities of the state branch of their party. While Oshiomole who is a past governor of the state wants to command the party, the governor is of the view that he is the current governor and should have control over the party.

The call for Oshiomhole's detention was contained in an appeal presented to the Inspector-General of Police and Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS) by the Edo State deputy governor, Philip Shuaibu, today Monday, February 3rd.

The appeal alleged that the APC National Chairman had continuously breached the peace of Edo State by disregarding established orders of constituted governments. The state governor said his government had outlawed political gatherings in the state but Oshiomole has regularly ridiculed the ban and coordinated political rallies.

Governor Obaseki had in a viral video earlier promised to deal with Oshiomhole if he keeps interrupting activities of Edo APC.
