COVID-19: El-Rufai to relax Kaduna lockdown Tuesday

Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State will relax the existing Quarantine Order on Tuesday, DAILY NIGERIAN reliably gathered on Sunday.

Recall that the state had been locked down since March 26, a measure the state government employed to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the state.
Sources at the state government house told DAILY NIGERIAN that the governor had finalized consultations with critical stakeholders and had thrown his weight on reopening the state.
The, however, said that places of worship would be allowed but within specified hours and under strict observance of COVID-19 preventive guidelines, so also the major markets in the state.
Similarly, a statement from the governor’s Special Adviser on Media & Communication, Muyiwa Adekeye, Sunday evening, disclosed that Mr El-Rufai would address the state on Tuesday, June 9.
According to Mr Adekeye, the governor will specify the next steps for the state, which sectors will be permitted to open and the safety guidelines that each sector is expected to comply with before reopening.
“No market, unauthorised business, school or place of worship will reopen until the government makes the required proclamation.
“Until then, the lockdown remains in force. The night-time curfew also remains in force, until the government announces otherwise,” the statement added.
