FGN Announces New Resumption Date For Final Year, SSCE & Primary Six Students

A report has it that the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and Chairman, Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha has revealed that schools will be reopened on July 13th 2020 to enable final year, SSCE and Primary Six students take their final exams.

This announcement came today in the meeting held in Abuja at the daily COVID-19 briefing.

It could be recalled that Boss Mustapha on Mondy said schools remain closed until further evaluations but on Wednesday revealed the Federal Government intention to reopen schools for the sake of final year students, SSCE students and Primary six students.

We feel this is a welcome development as these people that fall under this category will be able to take their exams so as to take a step ahead. It's barely two days since the second phase of the lockdown ended.

The Task Force Committee said it was working in a systematic and fact based way to ensure all its decision making was informed by the best public health data and global best practices that ensure safe re-opening.

Further the consultations to various stakeholders have already started and additional consultations on memorandum of understanding have been dispatched to various learning institutions and other sectors for their views on the safe reopening of their various contents.

In conclusion, unconfirmed reports revealed that the Federal Government of Nigeria has scheduled July 13th 2020 to enable final year SSCE and Primary Six students to take their final examinations. The reports never disclosed if the final year students in the tertiary institutions are inclusive, on this note, we urge you all to stay calm as we await the federal government to react to this claim.
