Just In: Okonjo-Iweala set to be crowned DG of WTO as South Korean candidate withdraws from race
The formal Nigerian Finance Minister, Dr Okonjo Ngozi Iweala who joined the race a year back, has now set to be crowned the DG of the World Trade Organization (WTO).
Recall that Dr Ngozi Iweala and Yoo Myung-hee, a South Korean rival have been in the race for the Word Trade president since the beginning.
Yoo Myung-hee is the current serving South Korean Finance minister, earlier today she withdrew from the race as a president of Word Trade Organization giving room to the formal Nigeria finance minister, Dr Ngozi Iweala as the only remaining candidate
She examined all the issues “comprehensively;” including the need to revitalize the multilateral organization, according to a statement from Korea’s trade ministry on Friday.
Following the the failed reflection of Donald Trump, the South Korean Yoo Myung-hee has not been in good favor because Donald Trump only endorsed her.
Due to this, the World Trade Organization has to hold on entire process due to Trumps opposition to Dr Ngozi Iweala. this is because the World Trade Organization, (WTO) always chooses its Director General by consensus.
This Withdrawal became mandatory when the top officials in the United States, Elected President Joe Biden advises him to Endorse Dr Iweala.
Definitely, the formal Nigerian Finance Minister Dr Ngozi Iweala will be crowned as the World Trade Organization in no time.
