Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has expressed his delight on being back on the score sheet after his recent goal drought.
The former Borussia Dortmund striker converted Arsenal’s second goal in the 2 – 0 win over Newcastle United after being through by Gabriel Martinelli to score his tenth goal in the Premier league this season.
The Gabon International spoke to the media shortly after the game and has this to say,
on the team’s victory he said,
“We needed this one. I think after a few games without winning, it was important to win just before our important game on Thursday. It’s good for the confidence for all the team”
on him scoring against Newcastle again…
“It was a great goal. I think Gabi did incredible work today and he gave me this assist as well. All credit to him. I was really happy to score.”
on coming back to score…
“I have to say, when you are out for a few weeks you realise how good it is to be back on the pitch. I was really happy to be back first and scoring a goal.”
on how he feels after 78 minutes…
“At the end for the last five minutes I was dying a little bit. But to tell the truth, I felt good the whole game so I was really happy with that. I have to say that the doctors did incredible work with me, bringing me to the hospital and stuff like that. I’m really thankful for them.”
