Chelsea boss Thomas Tunchel has stated that his team must ensure Champions league qualification on Sunday.
Tunchel was a happy man last night after seeing his side secure a hard fought victory over Brendan Rodgers Leicester City to take one step forward in their quest for European football next season.
Goals from Defender Antonio Rudiger and a penalty from Jorginho gave Chelsea a 2 – 0 lead. However Leicester pulled one back from inform Kelechi Iheanacho later on in the game, but the Blues held on to secure all the 3points.
Tunchel was a happy man and spoke to the media immediately after the final whistle and has this to say regarding the victory,
“It’s a big step, but it’s only a step,’ he said. ‘It’s not done yet, we have to push it over the line on Sunday.
‘It was a huge team effort, full of intensity, hunger and ambition. We played with a lot of quality for what was in my opinion a very deserved win.
‘But it’s not the time for celebrations, it’s not the time for praise, it’s not the time for thinking it’s more than three points. It’s actually only three points and there’s another three to get on Sunday and we have to be prepared and aware to finish the job.” Tunchel concluded.
